Cyclones Continue Skid Thanks to Xiang, River Chiefs
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs beat the Coney Island Cyclones, 13-5, at The Reservation. Chippewa first baseman Jang-lu Xiang earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Chippewa starter Manchu Woo was credited with the win after throwing 86 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-3. The current losing streak for Coney Island has reached 4 games.
Helping the Chippewa cause was Wang Tong. In the bottom of the fourth, the 22-year old first baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly to make the score 4-3, River Chiefs.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Chippewa manager Bruce Leah.
