The Victoria Vikings beat the Coney Island Cyclones, 8-3, at Coney Island Coliseum. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Pedro Moreno, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The 5th-place Vikings now have a win-loss record of 69-74.

Cody Jones had a big 2-run double for the Vikings in the top of the fourth inning. With Victoria leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Carl Cozens and stroked the double to left. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vikings ahead, 5-1.

"They played a better game than we did," said Coney Island skipper Tony Chávez.
