Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Gnats
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Rafael Ortíz, the Nichols Gnats defeated the Coney Island Cyclones, 6-5. Ortíz was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles for the Gnats. Nichols reliever Katsuyuki Noguchi picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Iwane Kaneko absorbed the loss. Nichols is now 45-95, Coney Island 57-83.

Gjelt van der Lack was the walk-off hero for Nichols. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Nichols catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Ortíz said.
