The Long Island Ducks topped the Topeka Predators, 5-3, in Ford Frick League action at Long Island Stadium. The player of the game was Long Island pitcher Kazutoshi Yamasaki. In 5.1 innings, Yamasaki surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Rafael Robles earned his 5th save in 9 tries.

The Ducks beat the Predators in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Pedro Pinto produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Topeka pitcher Millard Richardson, Pinto gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
