Getting an impressive start from Gustavo Ortega, Long Island beat Topeka by the score of 5-2. Ortega, now 4-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Rafael Robles earned the save for Long Island, his 4th of the year.
Also making an impact was right fielder Shawn Harris, who drilled a 2-run double in the bottom of the second inning for the Ducks. For the game, Harris went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"I thought we played a nice game," Ortega told the Long Island Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Ducks go to 79-81, putting them 5th in the Ford Frick League Billy the Marlin Division.
