Hawks Cut Down Ducks, 6-5
|
The Boise Hawks and Long Island Ducks obliged those fans who came to Basque Block Field hoping for an exciting game.
Despite a great performance by Long Island catcher Pedro Pinto, the Boise Hawks defeated the Ducks by the score of 6-5 at Basque Block Field. Pinto went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. Duane Lummis finished to wrap up his 10th save.
Boise took the lead with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Thomas Schmidt stroked a run-scoring triple. That made the score 5-4 in favor of Boise. For the day, Schmidt was 2 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Schmidt, "but we really needed that win."
The Hawks raised their record to 62-96.
