Starting pitcher Virisimo Antona pitched well enough to help the Carson City Mustang beat the Sandy Springs Spartans by the score of 4-3. The winning pitcher was Antona, now 7-6. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. Julien Caron recorded his 34th save for Carson City.
With the bases empty and no one out in the top of the third inning, first baseman Matsudaira Sato delivered big for the Mustang. Carson City was leading 3-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Sandy Springs manager Duncan Kelly.
The Mustang are now 80-71, while the Spartans fall to 73-78.
