Tight Tilt Goes to Ninjas, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the New York Ninjas and the Phoenix Lights, Amilcar Laboro was the difference-maker. The New York right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Laboro, now 9-11. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Nobuatsu Fukumoto closed it out for his 37th save.
An impactful at-bat came in the top of the sixth inning. With a runner on 3rd, the batter, Kitaw Malecela, hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 3-2, New York, and helped them go on to win.
"We were in it," said Phoenix manager Rod Allen. "We just didn't score enough runs."
