The Phoenix Lights topped the New York Ninjas, 9-7, with youngster Kunio Suto playing a key role. Suto was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Lights in the win. Phoenix is now riding a 3-game win streak.

With Phoenix leading 5-1 in the bottom of the third, Suto hit a bases-clearing double off New York hurler Masaharu Aoki. It was the 28th double of the season for Suto and put his team ahead, 8-1.
