Méndez Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Spokane in Walk-Off Win
|
Boise pitcher José Díaz gave the Bulldogs all they could handle, but in the end, Spokane left The Kennel with a 6-5 win. Díaz allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings. The Bulldogs bumped their record to 76-73 with this latest triumph.
Tied up with the Hawks in the bottom of the ninth, the Bulldogs got a boost from center fielder Orlando Méndez. With a runner on 2nd, Méndez saw a 1-0 fastball from Akio Chikuda and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Spokane on top, 6-5.
"Put a star next to this win," Méndez said.
