The Sandy Springs Spartans downed the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 10-7, at Earl Campbell Stadium. The Spartans were led by Reese Knight, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Sandy Springs reliever Dave Hamm was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Seitaro Sakamoto.

Enrique Calderón in the top of the eighth had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and the Spartans trailing 6-5, the Sandy Springs pinch hitter hit a run-scoring single.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Calderón told the Sandy Springs Gazette.
