Wolverines Score Late, Stun Hawks, 6-2
|
2028 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Boise Hawks.
Wichita Wolverines starter Shigeki Sasaki turned in a top-notch performance against the Boise Hawks at Basque Block Field. The result was a win for the Wolverines, 6-2. Wichita reliever Dalijit Tagore picked up the win, upping his record to 8-2. Pedro Salas took the loss.
Kichisaburo Nishimura produced at a critical juncture for Wichita. It happened in the top of the eighth with Pedro Salas on the mound and Wichita leading 2-1. That's when the 22-year old catcher Nishimura drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Nishimura said after the game.
Today's win puts Wichita at 70-74, while Boise falls to 55-89.
