The Long Island Ducks had to overcome a big game from Spokane left fielder Sergio Carbajal to leave The Kennel with a 8-5 victory. Carbajal was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Long Island is now 71-72, while Spokane is 73-70.
Darren Payne wielded some clout for Long Island. The center fielder had a 3-run home run in the top of the first for the Ducks. It put his team ahead, 3-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Payne went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Good win for us," said Payne. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
