Victory Pushes Hornets Record to 42-35
|
The umbrellas came out during the Eureka-Bloomington contest at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park.
Bloomington first baseman Jim Winter had a good game, even if his team did not. The Blazers dropped a 5-4 decision to Eureka at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park. Winter slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Andrés Nevárez picked up the save for Eureka, his 30th of the year.
The Hornets beat the Blazers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out triple Luis Galindo produced in the top of the first. Batting against Bloomington pitcher Daniel Bonnin, Galindo gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run triple.
"Both teams played hard," said Eureka manager Stephen Jackson.
At 42-35, the Hornets find themselves in third place in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.
