Spokane center fielder Orlando Méndez was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Carson City beat the Bulldogs, 8-6. Méndez was named the player of the game despite the loss. Earning his 31st save for Carson City was Julien Caron. Their 73-66 record puts the Mustang second in the Ford Frick League Junction Jack Division.

Also having an impact was right fielder Tony Durango, who stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth for Carson City. For the game, Durango went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Durango told the Carson City Chronicle. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
