|
Philadelphia pitcher António Navarro did his part in helping his team beat the Bronx Bombers, 7-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Navarro, now 11-11, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Tom Owens finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Philadelphia catcher Liann-wei Cai helped the Freedom to the win. In the bottom of the first inning, the 26-year old catcher stroked a run-scoring double. For the game, Cai went 2-4 with a double.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Philadelphia manager Dan Jones.
The Freedom now have a mark of 78-83.
