Raptors Win, Higashi has 3 hit day
|
The Omaha Raptors beat the Bronx Bombers, 6-2, at Bronx Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Masaharu Higashi, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Mike Bouffard got the win, improving to 6-7. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up no runs on 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Jason Engel closed the door for Omaha, picking up his 28th save of the year.
In the top of the fifth inning, Omaha got a break when Higashi went to the plate. With two outs, runners on 1st and 2nd and the Raptors leading 1-0, Higashi hit a 3-run home run.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Ronnie Hampton. "But it's got to translate into wins."
The Bronx losing skid has reached 7 games.
