Raptors Lose Late, 3-1
|
Billings Mustangs starter Takeshi Gato turned in a top-notch performance against the Omaha Raptors at Cobb Field. The result was a win for the Mustangs, 3-1. Sherwin Aberin earned his 16th save in 19 chances. Billings goes to 90-64. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Mustangs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the eighth, when right fielder Pedro Renterías hit a 2-run home run. The home run came off Tadaaki Tahara and made the score 3-1, Mustangs. Renterías was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"The division is still up for grabs, but I like our chances," Renterías told the Billings Citizen.
