Not everyone stuck through the 62-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.

The Joplin Fireballs topped the Bronx Bombers, 9-2, with second baseman Alastair Greenway playing a big role. Greenway was 3-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Fireballs in the win. The winner was Bob Brown, who threw 96 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. Abalendu Sourabh got the save, the 5th for him this season.

A key moment came with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Fireballs center fielder John Haley hit a fastball from Al Bates for a run-scoring double, putting Joplin up, 3-2.

"We took it on the chin today," said losing manager Ronnie Hampton.
