Joplin got an elite performance from starting pitcher Gerard Kotas in taking a 7-1 decision over the Bronx Bombers. Kotas picked up the win for Joplin, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 3-6. Joplin, at 72-81, sits in 6th place in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
In the bottom of the second, Alastair Greenway took a curveball from Arslan Halit and pounded a 3-run home run to right-center. It put Joplin on top, 3-0. For the game, Greenway went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"I thought we played a nice game," Greenway told the Joplin Times. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
