Vikings Sneak Past River Chiefs, 6-5

Fans who congregated at The Reservation were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Victoria Vikings downed the Chippewa River Chiefs, 6-5, in 10 innings. Chris Griffin led the way, going 2-for-4 for Victoria. The win was credited to Mal Goff in relief. His record improves to 2-4. George Fortin Jr. took the loss.
In the top of the fourth, Ed Weston had a big run-scoring single off Manchu Woo. With the single, the Victoria shortstop put his team in front, 5-4. He was 1-4 in the contest.
"It was terrific getting this win," Griffin said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
Victoria is now 65-71, Chippewa 84-52.
