Victory Over Gnats Takes Chippewa to 82-50
|
Chippewa turned a good effort from starter Felipe Arreola into a win over the Nichols Gnats at The Pond. The final score was 4-1. George Fortin Jr. closed the door for Chippewa, picking up his 34th save of the year. Chippewa's record now stands at 82-50, placing them second in the Buck O'Neil League Mariner Moose Division.
Doing his part for Chippewa was right fielder Marcos Tovar, who stroked a 2-run home run in the top of the second. For the game, Tovar went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Tovar. "The only team that can beat us is us."
