Abbott Lifts Bloodhounds to 12-3 Triumph
|
The Boise Bloodhounds met little resistance from the Charleston Panthers, beating them 12-3 at Grand Canyon Valley Park. Josh Abbott led the way. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for Boise. The winner was Jesús Espinosa, who threw 85 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. Ken Banks was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
The Bloodhounds got a big boost from third baseman Hughie Isted who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Panthers hurler Victor Hernandez. It was his 11th RBI of the season and put Boise on top, 2-1.
In comments to the Boise News, Isted admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The win puts the Bloodhounds at 62-71, while the Panthers drop to 54-79.
