Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Saints
|
The Victoria Vikings wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Jeff Duff, falling 2-1 to the St. Paul Saints at Saints Ballpark. St. Paul, at 64-65, sits in 4th place in the Buck O'Neil League Mariner Moose Division.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, right fielder Juichi Takahashi won it for St. Paul. With the bases empty, Takahashi hit a 0-1 fastball from Mal Goff for a solo home run, giving his team a 2-1 win.
Takahashi said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
