St. Paul Saints starter José Chávez turned in an exceptional performance against the Nichols Gnats at The Pond, resulting in a St. Paul win, 4-2. Jim Unknown finished to wrap up his 1st save. The Saints now have a record of 60-64.
Walt Stokes was a key contributor to the win for the Saints. In the top of the sixth with no one out, the light-hitting catcher stroked a double to left. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk.
Nichols manager Quinn Patrick said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
