Coney Island third baseman Richard Fogden made his presence felt in the 7-4 Cyclones triumph over the Charleston Panthers. Fogden went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Coney Island starter Carl Cozens was credited with the win after throwing 86 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 6-5. Coney Island is now 54-72, Charleston 50-76.

The Coney Island triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Billy Joel. In the top of the sixth, the Coney Island shortstop hit a bases-clearing double. It staked his team to a 7-4 lead.
