Blue Claws Edge Nichols in Pitching Duel

Nichols got a terrific performance from pitcher Akinori Ohayashi, but it wasn't enough to beat the Baltimore Blue Claws. Baltimore won the The Pond contest, 1-0. Ohayashi was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Dae-je Kwak finished to wrap up his 11th save. The second-place Blue Claws have won 4 in a row.
Alex Allen, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with no one out in the top of the seventh. That's when he connected on a curveball from Yoichibei Matsubara for a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season put Baltimore in front, 1-0.
"Credit where credit is due," said Allen, "this was a team win."
