Lights Beat Spartans in 10
|
The Phoenix Lights and Sandy Springs Spartans put on quite a show at The Coliseum.
The Phoenix Lights downed the Sandy Springs Spartans, 12-9, in 10 innings. Fernando González led the way, going 2-for-4 for Phoenix. Phoenix reliever Jian-cheng Wang picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Javier Peña absorbed the loss.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With two out, Juan Villa hit a 1-0 fastball from Javier Peña for a bases-clearing double. It put Phoenix in front, 12-9.
"I like our resilience," said González.
Phoenix's record now stands at 85-53, placing them second in the Ford Frick League Billy the Marlin Division.
