Sandy Springs rode a good effort from starter Haramala Senagala to beat the Phoenix Lights at The Coliseum. The final score was 5-1. In 7 innings, Senagala surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Larry Greer.
With a runner on 2nd and two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, designated hitter Yeong-il Kim delivered big for the Spartans. Sandy Springs was leading 2-1 when he belted a 2-run home run.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Phoenix manager Rod Allen.
The 6th-place Spartans are now 66-71, the Lights 84-53.
