Wichita beat Long Island, 6-5. The win in part was due to shortstop Maurizio Neri, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Wichita has now won 3 straight, while the Ducks have lost 3 in a row.

The Wolverines beat the Ducks in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Justin Seymour produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Long Island pitcher Gustavo Ortega, Seymour gave his team a 5-4 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Long Island manager Bob Reece. "But we decided not to take it."
