The bats were silent much of the day at UFO Field. But Kong Ong conjured up just enough offense to carry the Mustang past the Phoenix Lights, 3-1. Ong went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Mustang go to 68-64, putting them second in the Ford Frick League Junction Jack Division.
Ong had a big at-bat with two out in the top of the second inning. With his team down, 1-0, the second baseman hit a 2-run double to put Carson City ahead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Carson City skipper William Rabbetts. "I can't complain."
