Storm Troopers Cut Down Wolverines, 7-1
|
Getting a good performance from right fielder Misao Fujii, the San Antonio Storm Troopers defeated the Wichita Wolverines, 7-1. Fujii was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Storm Troopers. San Antonio reliever Yoshida Kaneko picked up the win to move to 9-4. Shigeki Sasaki suffered the loss. The save was credited to Kenkichi Akiyama, his 2nd.
In the top of the second, Heui-chung Yun hit a 2-run home run for San Antonio. The 4th home run of the season for the San Antonio third baseman put the Storm Troopers on top, 3-1.
"They played a better game than we did," said Wichita skipper Clyde Bowman.
San Antonio bumps their record to 70-54 with the win.
