Mudigonda Slugs Hitmen to 8-5 Win
|
The Chicago Hitmen defeated the South Carolina Bombers, 8-5, in Roberto Clemente League action at Bomber Ballpark, with Chicago third baseman Ashis Mudigonda named player of the game. Yeijiro Ishihara got the win, improving to 3-8. He held the Bombers to 0 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Ch'ang-chieh Tann earned the save for Chicago, his 18th of the year.
There was more than one reason the Hitmen beat the Bombers, but Mudigonda's big at-bat in the top of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
"We maximized our offense today," said Chicago skipper Steve Hansen. "That makes everyone's life easier."
The 4th-place Hitmen improved to 35-39.
