Omaha Raptors starter Jon Shipway turned in a sterling performance against the Detroit Death Stars, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Shipway went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-11. The Raptors, at 58-84, sit in last place in the Blake Camden League Youppi Division.
Chandler Eckard had a nice at-bat for the Raptors with one out in the top of the seventh. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the first baseman drew a walk, which would prove important in the Omaha win.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Shipway told the Omaha Gazette.
