Berserkers Fall to Hall, Tornadoes
|
The Kansas City Tornadoes defeated the Minnesota Berserkers, 9-5, in Thurman Munson League action at The Frozen Tundra. Curt Hall received player of the game honors. The 13-year veteran was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Mehmood Dar, who went 8.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 4-7. Alan Buckley finished the game for Kansas City and earned his 1st save.
The Tornadoes took the lead, 6-5, in the top of the ninth. Orlando Quiñones had the clutch at-bat. With one out and the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single.
In comments to the Kansas City Observer, Quiñones admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
The Tornadoes now own a record of 32-41.
