The Eureka Hornets stymied the Havana Stogies, 5-2, at The Humidor. Luis Galindo, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk for Eureka. Eureka reliever Nobuhisa Sumita picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Teguh Suharto shouldered the loss. The Hornets, at 40-34, lead by one game in their division.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Carlos Hernández's at-bat in the top of the ninth was huge. With no one out, the Eureka left fielder hit a 2-run home run, to give his team a 4-2 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hernández told the Eureka Times.
