The Minneapolis Freeze scored a 3-2 win versus the Detroit Death Stars at The Death Star. Minneapolis pitcher Mito Ishikawa nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Ishikawa got the win, improving to 6-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Ishikawa allowed 2 earned runs. Xian Wang sewed up the save, his 5th.
Maracaibo, Venezuela-born Jesús Pérez came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st and the Freeze trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Minneapolis on top.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Detroit manager Mitchell Drover said following the tough loss.
The Freeze move to 67-71 with the win, while the Death Stars drop to 77-61.
