Loss Extends Peoria Losing Streak
|
The Antioch Coal Miners topped the Peoria Caterpillars, 7-3, with first baseman Manny Durán playing a big role. Durán was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Coal Miners in the win. Garry Strode earned the win for Antioch. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 10-8. Eric Markle got credit for the save for Antioch. It was his 4th of the year.
Antioch catcher Manny Guevara contributed to the cause with a bases-clearing double in the top of the first. For the game, Guevara was 1-4 with a double, while adding 4 RBI.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Durán.
The losses continue to mount for Peoria, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
