Big Day by Haley Sparks Fireballs Win
|
The Joplin Fireballs defeated the Billings Mustangs, 4-1, at Cobb Field. Joplin center fielder John Haley was named player of the game for his superb performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. With the win, Joplin goes to 65-68, while the Mustangs fall to 79-55.
With Joplin leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Haley hit a fastball from Robert McLaughlin for a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Fireballs ahead, 4-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Billings manager Keith Irwin.
