Bumblebees Rally For 1-0 Win
|
In a tight game between the Pasadena Bumblebees and the Philadelphia Freedom, pitcher Hidetada Abe was terrific on the mound. The Pasadena left-hander was named the player of the game in Pasadena's 1-0 win. Pasadena reliever John Black was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Natsuo Saito took the loss. Pasadena goes to 79-52. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, Scott Crawford's at-bat in the top of the ninth was critical. With no one out, the Pasadena designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 1-0 lead.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Philadelphia manager Dan Jones, "let me know."
