Canadians Knock Off Peoria at Stanley Park
|
Vancouver used a superb performance from starting pitcher Pepe Trevino to down the Peoria Caterpillars, 8-1. Trevino went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 11-7. Joe Kenner got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Aftab Mengal played a key role in the win. The Vancouver first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, Mengal went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Vancouver Canadians manager John Harrison.
The third-place Canadians now have a win-loss record of 70-60.
