Mito Ishikawa never let Joplin get something going. The Minneapolis right-hander commanded his cutter in pitching the Freeze to a 4-1 win. Minneapolis has now won 4 straight, while the Fireballs have lost 3 in a row.
Minneapolis took a 3-1 lead on George Davis's 3rd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Davis hit in the top of the seventh, left Joplin pitcher Liu-chun Ren visibly frustrated.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Ishikawa said. "That's how it goes."
