Detroit designated hitter Tracy Ashton was instrumental in his team's 10-8 win over the Philadelphia Freedom. Ashton went 3-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Death Stars. Detroit reliever Gaudêncio Deplazes picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jesús Moreno shouldered the loss. Philadelphia has now lost 4 consecutive games.

Karl Fernandes's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a cutter from Jesús Moreno for a 2-run single. It put Detroit in front, 10-8.
