Phoenix right fielder Kunio Suto had a terrific game. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Madison beat the Lights, 5-4. Suto was named the player of the game despite the loss. António Mejía picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 1-3. Cristián Silva picked up the save for Madison, his 2nd of the year.
Ramón Márquez was a key contributor to the win for the Beehive. In the bottom of the third with one out, the light-hitting center fielder stroked a single to right. He went 1 for 4.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Phoenix manager Rod Allen. "But we decided not to take it."
Madison is now riding a 3-game win streak.
