Pat Pittman was the difference-maker for the Chicago Hitmen in what turned into a shootout with the South Carolina Bombers. Pittman earned the player of the game award after going 3-for-5 in the 14-9 Hitmen win. With the win, Chicago has a record of 34-38. South Carolina falls to 39-32.

Had Ashis Mudigonda not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mudigonda hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 11-8, in favor of the Hitmen.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Mudigonda said.
