Prowlers Fall Short at Eureka
|
The Eureka Hornets satisfied the home crowd at The Nest, treating them to a season-opening win, 2-1, over the Oklahoma City Prowlers. Starting Pitcher Paul Barrett was named player of the game for Eureka. Eureka reliever Nobuhisa Sumita picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tadaaki Tahara shouldered the loss.
The game came to an abrupt end with two out in the bottom of the 11th. On a pitch from Tadaaki Tahara, César Soto hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It gave Eureka the 2-1 walk-off win.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Stephen Jackson, the Eureka skipper.
