Bulldogs Snap Ortega's Streak at 22 Friday, May 14th, 2027 The Houston Cougars defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs 16-4 today at Suns Ballpark, but Carlos Ortega's 22-game hitting string was snapped and went to the wayside. Ortega went hitless in 4 at-bats. "I enjoyed the streak," the third baseman said in a BNN interview after the game. "It's great in one way, but the day-to-day pressure to keep it going can be tough to handle, too. The main thing is we got the 'W' today. That's all that really counts." Looking at his season stats, Ortega has compiled a .341 batting average and a .421 on-base percentage, while hitting 11 home runs and driving in 46 runs. |
