Great Stroke: Wilcox Gets 5 Hits
Monday, May 3rd, 2027
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Bill Wilcox after his 5-hit performance against the Phantoms. "No offense meant to Coronado, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Phantoms Field." The Acapulco center fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 18-5 victory. His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Bill worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits." "That's what I'm trying to do," Wilcox said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Bill Wilcox hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off br>g Rang in the 8th.
This season Wilcox is batting .276 with 21 hits, 3 home runs, 23 RBIs, 12 walks, .371 OBP and has scored 17 runs. He has played in 22 games.
