Failed Drug Test Lands Martínez 80-Game Suspension

League officials notified the South Carolina Bombers that first baseman Julián Martínez recently failed a drug test and will be punished for violating the league drug policy. He will be suspended for 80 games.
The Bombers general manager released a statement that read, "We are sorry that one of our players has broken the rules. Julián has apologized to our team and our fans and has said it will not happen again. He realizes that this type of behavior could ruin his baseball career. Both Julián and our organization will do all we can to remedy this situation."
Martínez has chalked up a career batting average of .316 with 581 hits, 87 homers and 294 RBIs.
