Eskimos Chill Valentín's Hot Streak Friday, August 27th, 2027 Mile High right fielder Bartolo Valentín came into today's game against the Edmonton Eskimos on a hot streak. When it was over, the Eskimos did their job very well. They beat the Mile High Mustangs 9-1 and cooled him off at the same time. Edmonton stopped Valentín without a hit and his 21-game hitting streak came to an end. The 32-year-old Valentín only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short." His manager commented, "What Bartolo did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." This season Valentín has hit at a .281 clip with 34 RBIs, 10 home runs and 55 runs scored. He has played in 82 games. |
